“I don’t know what to choose”
Sometimes the brief description of the services leaves you a little paralyzed. What if you choose the wrong type of massage you want for yourself?
Unlike the typical spa menu where they have something like Swedish and Deep Tissue separate and priced differently, my values are consistent across the services I provide.
The three massage descriptions in my menu act as guides that are fluid and based on the intent rather than the technique involved. There are people that find relaxation in a true deep tissue massage and some who find Swedish massage annoying.
Deep Tissue vs “Deep Tissue”
Oftentimes spas will offer “deep tissue” when in reality it’s just a really firm Swedish massage. A true deep tissue massage falls into the category of structural integration, an intense and profound way of working on the body. Also, deep tissue doesn’t just mean pressing harder into your body. The concept is to access the deeper layers of your musculoskeletal tissue which is three-dimensional. This can be accomplished not only with firm, direct pressure but also by changing the position of the body to slack the fibers so I can dig into deeper areas.
I’ve never had Myofascial Release
If you like the intensity of deep tissue, then you should try myofascial release! It’s an offshoot of rolfing that is focused on loosening up connective tissue allowing for more mobility. Like deep tissue, MFR is slow work allowing mechanoreceptors to respond to external force. Think of it like going over a speed bump at a low MPH making it more tolerable than revving through at 60 MPH.
Conclusion
Unlike some places where you pay for a service, you are hiring me for my time and expertise. If you choose a service that isn’t going as you thought we can switch gears and go into a different direction. Time is our only non-renewable resource and hope that you want to make the most of what we have.
